I love the Dodge Charger, and the Daytona 392 seems sweet, but I would never want to own one. Reliability and quality seem a little terrifying. Anyway, what’s your pick?

Mostly because it’ll break down every day and there’s no Alfa dealer within 300 kilometres of me.

Pros: V10 sound, V10 performance, and did I mention the V10 under the hood?

Cons: V10 thirst and V10 needs. A typical V10 service involves transferring your bank account over to your BMW mechanic.

So many...

Any 911 or Evora with 4 seats. I can’t get in the carpool lane unless I find a double amputee.

Any muscle car or AMG. Depreciation is painful.

Any classic offroader. I love the looks, and I love the simplicity, but realistically, the 4Runner is about as unrefined as I can tolerate.

Reliability with the Charger can’t be that bad!

As for me probably a Range Rover

Volvo s60r. I keep going back and forth on whether ownership would be worth it or not... On the one hand, 300hp 5cylinder awd spaceball manual transmission with glorious seats and one of my favorite stock wheel designs of all time. Also, LOOK AT IT.

Kinja'd!!!

On the other hand... If you look at swedespeed and other forums the owners of these cars have convinced themselves that dropping $10,000 a year and having it not run a third of the time even with that cost is totally normal. Maintenance-wise I’d rather risk a mid 2000's audi

Pretty much any German luxury car. Been there, done that, and I have the long detailed repair receipts to prove it. I love driving them, but I don’t have the money I once did and really can’t justify the pain of the maintenance/repairs for the pleasure they provide. Plus people think you’re a douchenozzle, especially if you’re young. These days my Mazda gives me 85-90% of the experience with 5-10% of the expense.

And the VW Vanagon. It’s totally irrational, but I’ve been in love with this vehicle since I first spotted one in 1979. Over the years we’ve had three in my family (mom had a 1980 and a 1990, while I had a 1983.5). They’re not terribly great to drive or particularly reliable, but there is just something intangible about them that I am at a loss to explain.

Kinja'd!!!

The full-tilt Westfalia. Oh, god, that is still one of my dream cars. Don’t ask for a logical explanation as there isn’t one to be found. I don’t even want to go camping, but I want that camper. Bronze, 1986, 2WD. That would be heaven.

Too big, too terrible on gas, would never use the winch, or really take it off road. But damn.

From what I’ve seen/heard, the Abarth is pretty reliable. The only expensive thing is if you get the convertible, and that fails.

The FD RX-7 and the Integra Type R. The FD would probably run properly once a year, and the ITR, while bulletproof reliable, would probably get stolen.

A friend of mine has a Charger R/T. I wanted one until we both went to the track, he in his Charger, me in my WRX. He was talking smack until that day. He had to eat his words.

I saw another one just this afternoon. Now I want one again....

The FD was fairly reliable, for 90's turbo standards. Most of the unreliable rotary jokes came from the 2004-05 RX-8.

a Charger/Challenger SRT...because I’d hate the cheap interior and the fact it may break everyday.

I’d love a Mini Cooper JCW, but again...I’d be broke and/or in the dealership every minute of my life

Most of them have been covered. Charger, Giulia, V10 M5. Worry about maintenance costs and reliability. But a soft one for me is a Regular cab, long bed Silverado. My grandfather drove them and my father drove them. I have absolutely as much need for one as I do a sports car but like a sports car, I still want one lol
